Xic's Cal Borrech

History

Ancestors of Cal Borrech

The wine tradition of Cal Borrech predates phylloxera.

His great-grandfather acted as a hauler and distributed the wine from Figuerola d’Orcau to the Pallars Sobirà.

In itself, in the whole town of Figuerola, there were many houses that had their own vineyard and sold it in bulk. Virtually all have their own cellar and in some you can even find a tunnel that goes beyond the house. It is popularly known as the Figuerola metro. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.

Year 1999

In 1999, the vineyard was restored and the DO Costers del Segre was registered.

It has not yet reached one hectare of planting of the Cabernet Sauvignon variety. In the following years the plantation was expanded to the current seven hectares. The varieties that were planted were: Tempranillo, Merlot, Syrah, Black Grenache, Macabeo, White Grenache and Perellada.

2013

In 2013, the winery was built and vinification began.

The first wine to be put on sale was Alveolina in 2015, although it was from the previous year's harvest. We currently have four market references, two black Alveolina and Tintilanya and two white Ximerliu and Cabeçanes. In the future we plan to release a new red wine and a sparkling wine. All wines are made exclusively with the grapes we produce in the vineyard.
